Blueberry: A well-known superfood that contains antioxidants that can strengthen your dog’s immune system, protect the brain and body’s cells from damage and
reduce inflammation!
Peanut Butter: The peanut butter we use we make ourselves and is 100% Peanuts-nothing else. No added sugars, salts, or anything unnatural. Peanut Butter is a good source of protein with heart-healthy omega fatty acids, vitamin B, niacin, and vitamin E.
Oats: Packed with soluble fiber. Great for skin and coat health, can also have a natural calming effect.
Bananas: A good source of potassium, manganese, vitamin B6, vitamin C, fiber, biotin, and copper. Bananas are low in sodium and cholesterol.
Cheese: Contains protein, calcium, vitamin A, essential fatty acids, and B-complex vitamins. Most dogs love cheese, and trainers often use it for treat-motivated dogs.
Pumpkins are full of Vitamins A, C, Iron, and Fiber and contain lots of beta-carotene which is an essential antioxidant. Fiber can be very useful in the treatment and maintenance of the digestive health of your dog.
Honey: Packed full of vitamins and minerals like vitamin B6, thiamin, niacin, riboflavin calcium, copper, iron, magnesium, manganese, phosphorous, potassium, sodium, and zinc.
Apple: This disease-fighting fruit packs a nutritional punch, complete with dietary fiber, vitamins A and C, and antioxidants.
Carrot: Good source of several vitamins and minerals, especially vitamin A.
Sweet Potato: Full of antioxidants, vitamins, fiber & minerals. They're also low in fat.
Chickpea Flour, also called garbanzo beans, are legumes, like lentils and peas. Chickpea flour is high in easily digestible protein, which your dog needs a lot of. Chickpea is an excellent source of folic acid, potassium, and fiber, in addition to being a good source of iron, magnesium, copper, zinc, and phosphorus. Chickpeas contain thiamine, niacin, vitamin B6, and calcium.
Eggs: Eggs are a naturally nutrient-dense food important to any balanced diet. They provide a complete protein source with vital amino acids, vitamins, and minerals (Vitamins A, B, E, K, Biotin, and Sulfur); and they contribute to healthy growth and muscle development.
Carob: This is a dog-friendly substitute for chocolate. It is 100% natural and 100% healthy for dogs. Carob is caffeine-free and contains as much vitamin B1 as asparagus or strawberries; the same amount of niacin as lima beans, lentils, or peas; and more vitamin A than eggplant, asparagus, and beets. It’s also high in vitamin B2, calcium, magnesium, and iron.
Tomato: Packed full of nutrients such as vitamin C, vitamin A, and lycopene. Lycopene can neutralize free radicals before these dangerous chemicals can cause the cells permanent damage. If you grow tomatoes in your home garden, be sure to keep your dog away from the leaves and stems. They are potentially toxic. The fruit, however, is an excellent source of soluble fiber.
Whole Wheat Flour: We use 100% Whole Wheat Flour as the base for some of our treats. Whole grains such as wheat are rich in dietary fiber, antioxidants, protein, dietary minerals (including magnesium, manganese, phosphorus, and selenium), and vitamins (including niacin, vitamin B6, and vitamin E). Some claim that dogs can be allergic to wheat. We have found that many times it is the poor quality of wheat used. Many times it has been processed and mixed with unnatural preservatives and additives.
We use whole wheat, brown rice, garbanzo, and oat flour in our recipes. For dogs with wheat sensitivity the brown rice, oat, or garbanzo flour treats will be your best choice. Contact us if you have any questions!
